What ever you call it the Orange Russian 117 is an excellent producer, pushing fruits out all season long. It is a cross between Russian 117 and Georgia Streak tomatoes and has been around for over 20 years.
Fruits are pretty big, about 1-2 pounds respectively, and having that lovely oxheart shape. The color varies a bit, with some fruits being almost solid orange on the outside but contains streaks of pink and scarlet-red and yellow once you cut it open. Some times you will get fruit with this bicolor marbling even on the outside.
The fruits are meaty and have a heavy and complex, yet balanced, fruity, extremely sweet flavor, some time com[ared to a good Riesling wine, and has a nice finish. They are great for salads, spreading on toast, or garnishing any dish.This is a perfect burger/sandwich tomato, or sweet sauces.
