Elberta Peach

, ,

The Elberta Peach tomato was first introduced in the 2002 Yearbook of Seed Savers by Scott Benson of Medina, New York (NY BE S), who received seeds from Chuck Wyatt of Baltimore, Maryland (MD WY C). It was probably named after the Elberta peach, which was named for the wife of the Georgia peach grower who identified the hybrid in the 19th Century).

The fruit are fuzzy red skinned with some yellow stripes, and have a red interior. The fruit is tangy and delightful, and carries a sharp acidic bite at the end. This tomato would be perfect for pairing with cheese.
