Monkey Ass

The Monkey Ass tomato is a heirloom from the Wagner’s family. It has been in the family for generations and came from Riardo, Italy, in the Province of Ceserta. The family named it for its surprising similarity in appearance to a monkey ass, with a tight cat-facing bullseye at the blossom end which resembles a sphincter, and two globe like chambers on either end resembling a right and left cheek.

The flavor is actually quite delicious, very similar to an Oxheart tomato; thin skin, creamy velvety texture, with few seeds or juice. The taste is sweet and savory, with almost no acidity.
