Determinate Dwarf tomato variety, producing ripe fruit in 70+ days from transplant. Wild Fred Dwarf was developed from a cross of The New Big Dwarf and Carbon by Californian breeder Bruce Bradshaw in 2005 and introduced commercially in 2011 by Tomato Growers Supply Company, The variety has significance because it was named by Craig Lehoullier for his recently deceased father whose name was Wilfred but his name was misspelled in a church bulletin hilariously as “Wild Fred Lehoullier”. This gave the family many good laughs.Craig’s father was the source of his gardening inspiration. Wild Fred produces large amounts of 6-8 ounce purple non uniform shaped fruits with excellent well balanced flavor and meaty texture.
