Siberian tomato named after the Ivan Kupala day, one of the most important holidays for Ukrainians, Russians and other Eastern Europeans. The name the words Ivan, the Slavic name for John the Baptist, and Kupala, the Slavic word for bathing or purity. This holiday celebrated the baptism ritual, but is also associated with Kupajla or Kupalo, the harvest god. Traditionally the holiday takes place around the summer equinox and the traditions and customs associated with this holiday have roots in Pagan rituals. Ivan Kupala day is a very jolly and colorful day usually occurring between June 22nd and July 7th.<\/p>\r\n<div>The Ivan Kupala tomato is just as exciting. The shape has characteristics of both a pear and a pumpkin and the color is pinkish red with yellow shoulders. The flavor is a balanced sweet and acidic tomato with meaty flesh and juiciness. It is excellent in sauces.
