The pepper was named after the city Anaheim in California, where it has become very popular. Genetically it is the same as the Hatch Chili but is named differently because their flavors are very different because of the climate and soil where they grow. The Anaheim Pepper is mild and sweet with a hint of spice. They are often used in cooking when they are green, and used in raw dishes.
