Made its way into the 1991 Seed Savers Exchange Yearbook via Dr. Carolyn Male after receiving them from co-worker Carl Swidorski. The Opalka tomato is believed to have originated in Poland circa 1900. Like the Amish paste Tomato variety, Opalka is a favorite of the red paste tomatoes. The shape of the fruit is similar to a large chili pepper (about 3″-5″) and grows on wispy Indeterminate tomato vines. The flavor has been described as sweet and delicious with almost no seeds. 85 days from transplant to harvest.
