The Watermelon tomato can be traced back between 100 and 200 years. Original it was discovered in West Virginia, where it had been grown for almost 100 years by some of the mountain families, but it wasn’t until 1958 that George Gleckler introduced it commercially.
It is a true Beefsteak tomato – huge (1-2 lb). It is considered a pink, beefsteak tomatoes that sometimes is scalloped.
It is loaded with rich, sweet flavor and complexity, and old-time tomato flavors.
