The word ‘Bedouin’ comes from old world French ‘bedüin’ and refers to a nomadic Arab of the desert. The French word probably came from colloquial Arabic ”badawin” literally “desert-dwellers”. The Bedouin tomato is an old Russian heirloom. It is a brown pear shaped tomato with green shoulders. The flesh is bright red and the seeds are covered in green gel. The flavor is deep and earthy and has a long classic tomato after taste. Performs well in cold climates.
