A long time favorite heirloom tomato cultivated in several countries in Europe. The name translates to bulls heart, beef heart, or bovine heart and is a typical variety found in France, Italy, and several Eastern European countries. While each country has a variety with this name, the fruits are often quite different. This variety came from a tomato farm outside of Zürich Switzerland.
The fruit is big and oddly shaped, similar to the heart of a bull. It is red with a bit of yellow on the shoulders. The skin is thin, the flesh is smooth, and there is little juice and seeds.
The flavor is savory and sweet, and a favorite of tomato lovers world wide.
Seeds sourced in Zürich.
