Cola De Rata Pepper (Chile de Arbol)

The Cola di Rata pepper is often referred to as the Chiles de Arbol, and is a popular medium-sized, spicy chili that is popular in parts of Spain as a dried and powdered Chile often used in place of table black peppercorns and are from the species Capsicum annuum. These Árbol peppers add a sharp, cleansing flavor that much enhances the flavor of any dish. They’re prized for their heat and intense color. Arbol translates to tree and help describe the woody  stems of the peppers. Other common names for this pepper are cola de rata (which means rat-tail) or pico de pajara (bird’s beak). They are not the same as the popular Southeast Asian favorite Chile “The bird’s eye” which have a much hotter intense flavor.
