Elser Farm’s Brown Derby

Indeterminate, regular leafed foliage, produces ripe fruit in about 85 days.

 

The Elser Farm’s Brown Derby is a recent cross by Maria and Darrel Elser of Elser County Farm in Elser California. The parents are two of the most loved heirloom tomatoes “Paul Robeson” and “Aunt Ruby’s German Green”, which are arguably two of the most delicious tomatoes around. This variety is not related to Tom Wagner’s Brown Derby tomato lines.

 

The fruits are large and flattened with a muddy color with green shoulders. The flavor is different depending on the fruit type, but have been said to be a complex flavor with sharp notes of black pepper and aroma of black tomatoes.
