Lutescente

Lutescent tomato is also known as ‘Livingston’s Honor Bright’, introduced by Alexander Livingston in 1897 after finding the plant in his tomato field. It makes for a great market variety as it ships well and can be stored up to 4 weeks. While the taste is great, this tomato is very special for the home gardener because of its unique growing pattern. The foliage has an intense yellow glow, making it easily confused as a nutrient deficient plant. The fruit is beautiful on the vine because it changes colors throughout the ripening stage, going from green to creamy white, to yellow, and then orange and finally rich red with an iridescent shimmery glow. At any given moment, you could have all different colored tomatoes on one vine.

The fruit is of typical beefsteak size with a hard outer skin and rich juicy inner pulp. The flavor is earthy, sweet and savory.
