Lucid Gem is an indeterminate tomato vine that takes 80 days to ripen fruit. Created by Brad Gates of Wild Boar Farms and winner of the 2017 National Heirloom Expo taste test for sweetness.
Lucid Gem comes from the antho selections which brought us favorites like Black Beauty and Blue Beauty. Besides being s stunning visual with its dark shoulders, gold skin and blood red center, the plant produces high yeilds. The fruits will ripen to a dull yellow and then progress to a warm goldish orange with black anthocyanin expression on the shoulders. Inside the fruits you will find blotches of red marbled throughout.
The Lucid Gem tomato flavor is very sweet and fruity. It is related to the Blue Beauty tomato and can perform well in extremely high temperatures. It is on the later side of the season when these fruits really start pushing out the production.
