The Vintage Wine tomato was first developed from Tom Wagner’s Brandy Stripe tomatoes. It Introduced in 1998 by K. Sahin, Zaden B.V., Netherlands.
The fruits are light pink with yellow pastel stripes and clear skin. There is a bit of variation, with some fruits having the addition of green shoulders. It is a real beautiful tomato with excellent flavor similar to the famous Brandywine tomato, known for its sweetness and perfectly balanced tomato flavor. The Vintage Wine tomato has a spicy and smokey finish, that surprises many of my dinner guests with it’s complexity. It is no wonder this tomato is called “Vintage Wine”, as it has all the characteristics of a perfectly aged wine, celebrated for the memory of a perfect growing season.
