Indeterminate mid season variety taking 75 days to ripen fruit from transplant. ‘Wherokowhai’ (pronounced “fer-dow-co-fi.”) translates to “red/yellow” in Maori (the language of the native New Zealanders). The name was given by New Zealand project member Richard Watson. The variety was first offered in 2014 and was ground breaking because it was the first bi-colored dwarf variety created by the Dwarf Project.

It is very similar to its parent tomatoes “Dopey” and “Lucky Cross” and comes from a cross created by Ray South. The Wherokowhai tomato is the result of the hard work of Ray South, Craig LeHoullier, Martha Hufford, Doug Frank, Soren Linnemann,Michael Volk,Richard Watson, Bill Minkey, Bill Yoder, Patrina Nuske Small, Lyn Rancourt, and Willa Osis.
