Indeterminate variety producing ripe fruit in about 80 days. Thanks to Craig LeHoullier, retired chemist and author of Epic Tomatoes, we have been gifted one of the most delicious heirloom tomatoes around – Cherokee Purple. In 1990, Craig received the seeds from a gentleman named John Green, who was gifted them from a lady whose neighbors family had grown them for over 100 years. Furthermore, John was told that these tomato seeds were originally a gift from First Nation Cherokee Indians. The fruits are of the beefsteak variety, purple/brown in color, and are said to be smoky, sweet, acidic, and savory all at the same time. Produces welling cool climates.
