Determinate Dwarf tomato plant, mid to late season variety, ripens fruit in 80 days. Created by The Dwarf Tomato Project, and started off as the result of a cross between ‘Dwarf Wild Fred’ and ‘Brad’s Black Heart’ by Vince Lavallo which he first named the “Porky” tomato. The fruits range from 7 ounces to over a pound and grow and short plants between 2-3 feet. The fruits are brownish purple oxhearts and have an intense savory and herbal taste with mild spice notes.The Dwarf Purple Heart was a labor of love with many contributors who helped to grow out and stabilize this strain by passing the most recent generation grow out back and fourth from one country to the other. Bill Minkey grew out the the first generation, and then passed it off to Linda Black, Amanda Fischer, Stephanie McVeigh, Patrina Nuske Small, Paul Fish, Robbins Hail, Stuart Pollack, Antoniette Koshykar, Lisa Moore, Jessica Dubin, Lurley Hernandez, John Graham, Kenny Jacobs, and Craig LeHoullier.
