The Akoko Mesa Basil (Akoko Mesa is native to Ghana and has been grown in home gardens because of its medicinal properties as well as every day uses. It has been in use for hundreds of years. The Akoko Mesa Basil is a staple ingredient in Chicken dishes because of its strong flavor which they love in their chicken and is a distinct flavor of their cuisine. The name “Akoko Mesa” translates to “Chicken Dance” in English. Medicinally, this basil has been used in Ghana as a home remedy for diabetes and helps lower blood glucose.
