Mid season needing about 80 days for ripe fruit. Plants are indeterminate.

What started out as a cross between “Marmande Clause 27” and a variety of American common tomato in 1961 became an important cultivar in tomato breeding because of its resistance to Fusarium. It was made by the French company CLAUSE and named RAF (which is an acronym for Resistant at Fusarium). Today the Raf tomato has become very popular in Spain, where it is often grown underground or in greenhouses. It is a popular salad tomato or freshly eaten with cheeses. They are best eaten prior to fully ripe as the crisp, juicy texture and flavor are wonderful. Eat them when the green fruits start to show some orange color but still have a lot of green.

The fruits are beautiful red with green shoulders and are slightly ribbed and bulbous shaped. It was noted that growing this variety with salt water improved the flavor by increasing the bricks to up to 9 for sugars.

The flavor is wonderful, well balanced, and has great texture.
